I’m Alexa Bigwarfe

a multi-passionate entrepreneur focused on bringing women’s stories to the world

When my daughter Kathryn passed away, I searched high and low for a book to help me through the grief process. I wanted to know so badly that it all mattered and that my feelings of sadness and grief were okay and dare I say, even normal. I found a community of people who were sharing about their grief journey online and with their contributions, I published the book Sunshine After The Storm: A Survival Guide for the Grieving Mother in 2013.

Writing Sunshine After The Storm led me to where I am today. I am obsessed with helping women tell their stories. Not only do I coach authors, I also publish books via my hybrid publishing house and use my podcast to share real stories from women to help us relate better and be more compassionate to people who are different than us.

About Alexa

Alexa Bigwarfe didn’t set out to be a publisher, but dreamed of being a writer as a child. She got her start as a technical writer in the military and in Homeland Security, and then decided to stay home with her two young children.

It was a personal tragedy that led to writing and publishing. Her third pregnancy was with identical twin daughters who became very ill in utero with a disease that impacts identical twins – Twin to Twin Transfusion Syndrome (TTTS). The babies were born 10 weeks early and very ill.  After two days, Kathryn Bigwarfe, passed away in the NICU. Her twin sister spent 12 weeks there before coming home. Small, but healthy.

Unsure of how to handle all of the many emotions, Alexa began blogging anonymously as ‘Kat Biggie’ for Kathryn Bigwarfe. Alexa would go on to publish her first book, a collaborative book for grieving parents, Sunshine After the Storm: A Survival Guide for the Grieving Mother. When she published, she created her own imprint for the book, Kat Biggie Press,  fell in love with publishing, went on to write and publish Lose the Cape! Realities for Busy Modern Moms and Strategies to Survive.

Alexa began shepherding other authors through the publishing process  and decided to publish the best of those books under her own imprint, Kat Biggie Press. Write Publish Sell was created as a way to coach those authors through the book writing process and the imprint Purple Butterfly Press was created to so that children’s books could also be published.

If you have the dream of writing or selling a book, Alexa needs to be part of your team.
